Project Duration: 15 months (from 13.01.2018.)

Projects objectives: The overall objective of the Project is to respond to the resilience needs of migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in Serbia, through support to the national authorities including enhancing shelter capacity and delivery of services. Specific Project objectives are to improve accommodation services and protection of the rights of migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in asylum and reception centres and centres for unaccompanied minors and to provide adequate health and education services to effectively respond to the needs of migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in Serbia. Special attention is paid to the care and protection of the vulnerable categories of migrant population, notably all children/unaccompanied minors.

Project started on 13.01.2017; Project duration 12 months 

The Project objective was to ensure and expand direct operational capacities of national authorities to effectively resolve and respond to increased migration flows in order to secure adequate functioning of the asylum and migration management system in the Republic of Serbia.

  • The following costs were covered by the Project:
  • Operational/running costs for accommodation in the asylum and transit/reception centres and centres for unaccompanied minors without parents or guardians including food, electricity, heating, laundry, utility services, water and sanitary services;
  • Engaging additional staff to provide support to the centres for social work in executing the tasks from the scope of guardianship authority and functioning of the centres for unaccompanied minors in Serbia;
  • Engaging additional staff by the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration like facilities coordinators, field workers, security, administrative staff, interpreters and hygienic workers to facilitate unhindered functioning of asylum and reception/transit centres;
  • Costs of food and accommodation for field workers hired by the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration, Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs and Ministry of Interior;
  • Costs of fuel and vehicles maintenance for employees of the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration, Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs and Ministry of Interior, arising from the field work with migrant population;
  • Procurement of IT equipment for the needs of the employees at the Ministry, Commissariat for Refugees and Migration and Ministry of Interior.
  • Forming the Project Management Unit within the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs.
